The album "Concertos Cariocas" has just been released. It is a partnership of Quatro a Zero with the Campinas Symphony Orchestra.

This album is the fourth of the Quatro a Zero's trajectory and fully presents the three Concertos Cariocas composed by Radames Gnattali. These concertos were written for not common instruments to the symphonic universe. The Quatro a Zero was the soloist invited to record the Concerto Carioca No. 3, until then unheard in CD. As the concert was composed for symphony orchestra and soloist sextet, the group had the luxury participation of musicians Rafael Santos at the second piano, and Guilherme Ribeiro at the accordion. The premiere of Concerto Carioca No. 3 was made by the same musicians, in June 2014, with the Campinas Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Maestro Victor Hugo Toro. This presentation took place at the Teatro Castro Mendes de Campinas and is recorded on video.Check out the video!

This work is the result of a long research of the members of the group has been carrying on the Radames Gnattali's work.

In November, Quatro a Zero will perform at the prestigious festival Guimares Jazz in Portugal.

After 25 years of continuous achievement, Guimares Jazz is recognized as one of the main jazz events in Europe. The schedule for the 2016 edition of the festival is not yet complete but in past editions, big names like Wayne Shorter, John Scofield, Chris Potter, Herbie Hancock, Gonzalo Rubalcaba, Ron Carter, Bill Frisell, Jimmy Cobb and Wallace Roney with "Kind of Blue, 50 Years On", Dave Holland, Jack DeJohnette, Don Byron, John Abercrombie, Joe Lovano, McCoy Tyner, Charles Lloyd, Cassandra Wilson, Vince Mendoza, Steve Coleman, Ahmad Jamal, Jan Garbarek, Ravi Coltrane, John Patitucci, Charlie Haden, Lee Konitz, Joshua Redman, among others, took part in the programming of this event.

Throughout the history of Guimares Jazz, Brazilian music was present in the program only once, more than 20 years ago, with Hermeto Paschoal. Since then, Brazilian musicians not have integrated festival cast. Quatro a Zero takes the responsibility to present the richness of Brazilian traditions. At the same time, it is proposed to contribute to the widespread perception that the Choro continues to present new and interesting sounds!

It is worth mentioning the support of the Brazilian Ministry of Culture: Quatro a Zero was contemplated in the Exchange and Dissemination Award, which provided financial support for participation in the event, which will enable the group to present in other European cities!

Wait for news!

On April 15th we played in Ribeiro Preto atFestival SESC Choro da Casa.

The program had as Mauricio Carrilho, Cristvo Bastos, Heraldo do Monte, Isaas Bueno and gua de Moringa.

We were fortunate to share the night with the group Toca Tatu, from Belo Horizonte, which has just recorded a CD with works of Radames Gnattali, one of the main references for us too.

It ended up being a night in honor of the maestro, since we also played several of his compositions as Papo de Anjo, P de Moleque and Bolacha Queimada.

Congratulations to the organizers of the Festival! It is always good to see initiatives like these that generate meetings and inspire us to move forward.
